The Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association (MUNFA), which represents over 900 Academic Staff Members, seeks an energetic and self-directed person to fill the position of Executive Officer. Applicants should have knowledge of and experience in labour unions (including collective bargaining, labour-management relations and labour law). Excellent skills in dealing with people, research and writing, working in teams, and knowledge of the academic environment and communication strategies would be preferred. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the MUNFA President and: will provide general support to the MUNFA Executive; will take a key role in creating, implementing and maintaining MUNFA’s communication strategy with members, the university community and the public; will provide consultation to MUNFA members and university administration with regard to the terms of the Collective Agreement; will provide research support to MUNFA committees and serve as a member on MUNFA committees including Proposals, Negotiating, Benefits and Pensions Committees; and will organize events to increase membership knowledge and participation. The successful candidate should possess a graduate degree in a relevant field and have a record of increasingly responsible work experience leading to this key role in the organization. The candidate should also possess excellent oral and communication skills and be proficient in MS Office applications. Ability to work collegially is essential. Salary will be commensurate with experience. A benefit package is provided.
