As per the University’s current Smoking Policy, smoking is prohibited at any time on property occupied by Memorial University (https://www.mun.ca/policy/site/policy.php?id=243 [1]).
After receiving complaints from ASMs regarding smoking on campus, MUNFA filed an Association grievance on the University’s failure to enforce the Smoking Policy.
A grievance meeting was held on October 24, 2018. MUNFA has since received a Step 2 response letter from the Associate-Vice President (Academic) [2]. MUNFA has been advised that the current Smoking Policy is up for review. Once the consultation phase of the review is initiated, MUNFA encourages all ASMs to provide input.
