MUNFA is seeking input from all members to help strengthen faculty representation and advocacy at the University Senate. The University Senate is responsible for overseeing academic policies, programs and strategic direction. We want to ensure Academic Staff Members are well-informed and empowered to participate meaningfully in this governance process.
To better understand your experiences and needs related to the University Senate, MUNFA has created a short survey. Your responses will inform MUNFA’s efforts to increase Senate engagement, develop training and resources, and advocate for stronger academic voice on important issues.
The survey includes the following questions:
- Do you know who currently represents your academic unit (department/faculty/school) on the University Senate?
- Have you ever attended a Senate or Senate Sub-Committee meeting in any capacity (as a senator, observer, or guest)?
- Are you currently a senator on the University Senate? If yes, would you be willing to provide your contact information, so MUNFA can reach out to you in the future?
- If you are not currently a senator, would you consider putting your name forward in the future?
- In what ways could MUNFA provide training, resources or other support to help prepare and empower members to participate more actively in the University Senate? For example, would you be interested in MUNFA-led workshops on parliamentary procedures, effective advocacy strategies or navigating Senate Committees?
- What issues or concerns related to academic, research or policy issues would you like to see better represented or addressed at the University Senate?
- Any additional thoughts or suggestions on how MUNFA can strengthen and/or better identify barriers to Senate engagement?
