We wish to call your attention to a travel advisory recently issued by CAUT. The advisory calls attention to recent U.S. court decisions and government policies that mean your laptop or other electronic device can be seized, the contents searched and copied without any grounds for suspicion of you. This is a must read for those who travel to the U.S. with their laptop or other electronic device. It is on-line at: www.caut.ca/uploads/Travel_Advisory_Laptops.pdf.
There is also an excellent article with practical advice for those traveling to the U.S. with a laptop computer. It is available at the Canadian Bar Association website and may be found at: www.cba.org/cba/practicelink/TAYP/laptopborder.aspx.
