SUBJECT: MUNFA EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING (CONTINUATION)
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2024
As per previous Notices, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) was called at the behest of 25 members. That meeting took place on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10 am.
The first motion on the agenda was – Motion on Scholasticide, Supporting Palestinian Education, and a Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions. This motion was ruled out of order based on legal opinion obtained by the MUNFA Executive as it would violate the MUNFA Collective Agreement, particularly the Articles/Clauses pertaining to Academic Freedom.
The next item on the agenda for consideration was – Motion on Crimes Against Humanity and Divestment from Israeli Companies. Debate on this motion occurred. An amendment to the wording of the motion passed; wording of the amended motion can be found at the link below. As debate on the amended motion did not conclude before the scheduled meeting end time was reached, a vote on the amended motion did not occur. It was the will of the assembly to reconvene on Friday, September 13 to continue discussion of this motion. The meeting will recommence on that date where it left off and starting with the speaker’s list as noted at the end of the meeting when postponed, with the following motion on the table – MOTION
For clarity: the meeting of September 13th simply picks up where the meeting of July 26 left off.
