The Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association has established a trust fund to provide scholarships and bursaries to students who demonstrate high academic standards and are in need of financial assistance. Assistance from this fund is available to first year students as well as to those further along in their studies and may be re-applied for in subsequent years. The first of the MUNFA Scholarships awarded each year is the Ditte Koster Memorial Scholarship. This award honours the late Ditte Koster who, up to the time of her death, was a professional librarian at the University.
This Year
Due to the generosity of our contributors, the majority of whom are current or retired MUNFA members, we were able to award six scholarships of $2,500 for six students. However, we think we can do better next year!
How can you contribute?
To help us assist more students you can fill out the straightforward form from the link here: http://www.mun.ca/munfa/appeal.pdf and drop it in the internal mail, addressed to MUNFA, Room ER4047. This form allows you to contribute $2, $5 or however much you like as an easy payroll deduction or you may choose to make a one-time contribution. Donations to the MUNFA Scholarship Fund are tax deductable. Contributors receive an official receipt at the end of the calendar year. Contributors Appreciation Event
The MUNFA Scholarship Committee will be having a Contributors Appreciation event on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 in the Jr. Common Room, Gushue Hall. There will be refreshments, treats and prizes! The MUNFA Scholarship Committee would like to take the time to especially thank our current contributors. All others who would like to sign up or want to know more about the MUNFA Scholarship Fund are encouraged to drop by.
