NEGOTIATIONS NOTICE OF INFORMATION MEETING (THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2006)

In late July 2005, the administration advised MUNFA that they wanted to open negotiations of the current Collective Agreement, as per Clause 1.40.

Subsequently both parties agreed on December 16, 2005, that the following articles would be negotiated:

  • Article 11, Tenure-Track Appointment and Tenure for Faculty Members
  • Article 12, Procedures and Criteria for Promotion of Faculty Members
  • Article 23, Term, Subsidized, Adjunct, Joint and Cross, Special Visiting and Spousal Appointments
  • Article 26, Miscellaneous Working Conditions
  • Article 30, Cooperative Education Coordinators
  • Article 31, Salaries and Benefits

The Proposals Committee has completed its work and the Executive Committee has approved a set of proposals for the articles being opened. The proposals for the relevant articles are attached (NOTE: Please contact the MUNFA office at ext. 8642 if you have not received a copy of the proposals). Please note that draft changes to Article 31, Salaries and Benefits, are not included. As in the past rounds of collective bargaining however, MUNFA will seek fair, reasonable and equitable improvements in both ASM salaries and benefits, as well as continue to pursue a MUNFA pension plan.

Our Negotiating Committee consists of the following:

  • Jon Church, Medicine
  • George Jenner, Earth Sciences
  • Lili Wang, Pharmacy
  • Dorothy Milne, Q.E. II Library
  • Paul Wilson, Sir Wilfred Grenfell College
  • Marian Atkinson (MUNFA Executive Officer; non-voting member)

The Negotiating Committee will recommend a Chief Negotiator to the MUNFA Executive Committee.

There will be an Information Meeting for all MUNFA Bargaining Unit Members. The meeting is scheduled for:

THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2006
AT 7:30 P.M IN THE
HSC MAIN AUDITORIUM.

Sir Wilfred Grenfell College will participate via teleconference.
