We understand that many members use the web-based reference/citation software “RefWorks” through the University’s library system. At present RefWorks is accessed from the Scholars Portal hosting service of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). This service is about to cease and Refworks data will be migrated to a server located in the United States (US). The transition to the US server is scheduled for May 14, 2:30 pm NL time, 2015.
MUNFA wishes to advise our members that any data located on servers located in the US is subject to the Patriot Act. As such the privacy of the information you have stored in RefWorks cannot be guaranteed.
If you do not wish to have your research information reside on a server in the US, you can have your RefWorks account deleted ahead of the move by the MUN Library.
