As you no doubt have seen, TAUMUN (Teaching Assistants’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland) with the assistance of PSAC (Public Service Alliance of Canada) has launched a campaign to organize Teaching Assistants and Research Assistants at Memorial University and to seek certification from the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Relations Board.
The MUNFA Executive fully supports TAUMUN’s initiative to organize Teaching Assistants and Research Assistants at Memorial University that will offer union representation on par with most other universities across Canada. The key issues driving TAUMUN’s drive for collective bargaining rights include equity, fairness, and concerns about occupational health and safety.
