Casual Vacancies on CAUT Equity Committee 

The following message was received from CAUT and is being forwarded for information purposes: 

“CAUT is seeking to fill casual vacancies on its Equity Committee. 

When a casual vacancy arises, the Executive Committee selects a replacement after consultation with member associations and recommends the individual(s) for ratification at the next meeting of Council. Once ratified, casual appointments will serve the remainder of the term for the vacant position. 

If your association wishes to nominate someone to fill a casual vacancy, please complete the nomination form on the CAUT website. The nomination deadline is October 15, 2025. 

Details on the casual vacancies are outlined below: 

Equity Committee 

Vacancies to fill: 2 

       Member representing Aboriginal Academic Staff One term that will expire in May 2028 

       Member representing Academic Staff with Disabilities One term that will expire in May 2028 

The Equity Committee is composed of two members of each of the following groups: 

       Aboriginal academic staff 

       Academic staff with disabilities 

       Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and two-spirited academic staff 

       Racialized academic staff 

       Women academic staff 

Members of the Equity Committee should have considerable experience in and commitment to the advancement of equity. Members should be willing and able to commit time between meetings to  

the work of the committee, including conference planning, drafting and editing documents, developing policy statements, preparing advice for the CAUT Executive and Council, and undertaking other related activities.
