Call for Nominations for the CAUT Lee Lorch Award 

The following was received from CAUT and is being forwarded for information purposes: 

CAUT is soliciting nominations for the CAUT Lee Lorch Award. The CAUT Lee Lorch Award recognizes academics whose work has meaningfully advanced the values of post-secondary education, strengthened academic labour rights, and fostered intellectual engagement among students, peers and the public. 

Nominations for the Award may be submitted by individuals, member associations or others. 

The deadline for nominations is August 31, 2025. The nomination form and procedures are available on the CAUT website. Nominations for the Lee Lorch Award can be made using this form. 

Recommendations should include the following: 

▪ A letter of nomination giving a detailed statement describing specifically the contributions and achievements of the candidate as they relate to advancing the values of post-secondary education, strengthening academic labour rights, and fostering intellectual engagement among students, peers and the public; 

▪ A letter of support from a CAUT member association (if the letter of nomination has not come from a CAUT member association); 

▪ Relevant supporting documents such as: 

▪ a full curriculum vitae where appropriate; and 

▪ other letters of support. 

Nominations will be adjudicated by a jury of the most recent former presidents of CAUT. The jury’s recommendation will be made to the Fall Council for approval. 

The award will be presented at the Spring CAUT Council. The recipient will be invited to give an address to Council. The address will be subsequently published by CAUT. The recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium with the award.
