The MUNFA Executive Committee has approved the cost associated for two female ASMs to attend “Sisters Rising Together”, the first Women’s Leadership Summit of the Canadian Labour Congress taking place from September 29 – October 1, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The summit includes a keynote address by poet, professor and activist El Jones, the new Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University and former poet laureate for the City of Halifax. The weekend’s agenda will also consist of leadership-oriented talks, forums and panel discussions for women in the labour movement, including sessions on “Young Women Rising” and a presentation on “Women and the Media”.
