MUNFA sends its strongest solidarity to Unifor Local 597 members, who are striking against their employer’s refusal to make a reasonable wage and benefits offer and to restore full-time positions that had been cut from Dominion stores across the province. As the global pandemic has underscored, grocery store workers provide essential services. They deserve a living wage as well as access to good benefits and job security. More widely, social inequality and insecurity leave us collectively vulnerable to this and future pandemics.
MUNFA will be joining the picketing workers at the Dominion located at 20 Lake Avenue on Monday, August 31 at 12:00pm. We encourage our members to participate in this demonstration of solidarity. For those unable to join us, click here for other ways to show your support.
