The MUNFA Economic Benefits Committee (EBC) has begun its work for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.
As part of this work, members of the EBC sit on the University Benefits Committee, and vote on rate and plan changes to University Group Insurance Plans as part of that work. These Group Insurance Plans include Life Insurance, Accidental and Dismemberment Insurance, Long Term Disability Insurance and the Health Plan (Drugs and Paramedical Coverage), Dental Plan and Travel Health Plan. All permanent, full-time ASMs are covered under these Group Insurance Plans from the first day of active employment. Contractual ASMs whose initial appointment is to a position of at least six months duration requiring them to work at least 20 hours per week are covered from the first day of active employment at the University.
The MUNFA Executive and the EBC would like to hear from ASMs on what benefits and insurance provisions are important to them, and what ASMs might like to see added to Group Insurance Plans in the future. ASMs with feedback, comments, or questions should email munfa@mun.ca.
