As per the University’s current Smoking Policy, smoking is prohibited at any time on property occupied by Memorial University (https://www.mun.ca/policy/site/policy.php?id=243).
After receiving complaints from ASMs regarding smoking on campus, MUNFA filed an Association grievance on the University’s failure to enforce the Smoking Policy.
A grievance meeting was held on October 24, 2018. MUNFA has since received a Step 2 response letter from the Associate-Vice President (Academic). MUNFA has been advised that the current Smoking Policy is up for review. Once the consultation phase of the review is initiated, MUNFA encourages all ASMs to provide input.
